Fuquay-Varina Museum Park
The Fuquay-Varina Arts Council is sponsoring the participation of students between the ages of 10-18 in the Student En Plein Air Paint-Off in Downtown Fuquay-Varina on Saturday, May 5th, in conjunction with the Fuquay-Varina Downtown Association.
Participants will set up and paint a scene of their choice at the historic Museum Park in Downtown Fuquay. Each will be given up to three hours to set up, paint, and tidy up, between the hours 3 – 6pm.
The FV Arts Council will provide an 11"x14" canvas for high school students, and a 9"x12" for younger participants. All other art supplies (i.e., acrylic paints, brushes, art easel, container for water and rags/paper towels) are the responsibility of the artist. Artists 14 years of age and younger must have a parent or guardian present. Please register the name of the supervising adult when prompted in the registration.
As participants sign up they will be asked if they would like to keep their painting or have it auctioned off during the Downtown Association's En Plein Air Auction, later that same evening on Depot Street. If they choose to have it auctioned, they will receive half of the proceeds from the auction. The remainder will support the Fuquay-Varina Arts Council in their work supporting the arts and fostering creativity in our community.
As an added feature to this year's event, the Fuquay-Varina Arts Council is planning a public Gallery Showing of all Student En Plein Air completed paintings, if the artist and owner of the painting would be willing to display it on loan during the gallery show. More details, including the show location are to come!
