The Fuquay-Varina Arts Council is sponsoring the participation of children/young adults ages 7-17 in a Kids En Plein Air paint-off in Downtown Fuquay-Varina on Friday April 15th.
Participants will set up and paint a scene of their choice at the Mineral Springs Park in Fuquay-Varina. Each will be given two hours to set up, paint, and tidy up from 4 – 6pm.
Participants will be limited to the first ten registrants. The Arts Council will provide an 11x14 canvas. Participants must provide their own art supplies (i.e., acrylic paints, brushes, art easel, container for water and rags/paper towels).
Participants must also register the name of a person responsible for attending to the artist's needs throughout the event. Those 14 and under must have a parent or guardian present.
As participants sign up they will be asked if they would like to keep their painting or have it auctioned off during a silent auction at the Arts Council's Booth at the Freedom Balloon Festival (Memorial Day Weekend).* If they choose to have it auctioned, they will receive half of the proceeds from the auction. The remainder will support the Fuquay-Varina Arts Council in their work supporting the arts and fostering creativity in the community.
