The Fuquay-Varina Arts Council is sponsoring the participation of students between the ages of 10-18 in the Student En Plein Air Paint-Off in Downtown Fuquay-Varina on Saturday, May 5th, in conjunction with the Fuquay-Varina Downtown Association.
Participants will set up and paint a scene of their choice at the historic Fuquay Mineral Spring Park in Downtown Fuquay. Each will be given up to three hours to set up, paint, and tidy up, between the hours 12:30 – 3:30pm.
New this year! All participating students are eligible to have their finished work on display at the new Fuquay-Varina Arts Center when it opens later this spring! This is an exciting opportunity for students to have their work in a public gallery showing, and be a part of the historic opening of the Arts Center!
The Arts Council will provide either a canvas (suitable for painting in acrylics), or watercolor paper + frame for participants, depending on their paint material of choice. High school students will receive an 11"x14" canvas/paper, and younger participants will receive a 9"x12" canvas/paper. All other art supplies (i.e., acrylic or watercolor paints, brushes, art easel, container for water and rags/paper towels) are the responsibility of the artist.
This is a FREE event, however, you must be registered by May 1st in order to participate.
Participants may choose to paint either a landscape view of the Mineral Spring Park, or a natural still life from the plants and other features within the park.
Artists 14 years of age and younger must have a parent or guardian present. Please register the name of the supervising adult when prompted in the registration.
